Sipho Marima

“The first reason for running was proving my wife wrong.”

Do you think Sipho Marima has managed to do this?

Having started his active lifestyle playing soccer, Sipho started running in 2017.

With the support of his wife, the most supportive human being he knows (give the man brownie points), his dream is to run an international marathon.

While his main sport is running, he also enjoys cycling and swimming. He is an online cycling and running instructor and does functional as well.

When asked what keeps him going, his response is, “my kids. And the desire to be the best version of myself.”

“Sports have taught me, and still does, teach me a lot of things – such as perseverance, consistency and hard work. Those things I also apply in my personal life.”

His best race to date was a sub 3 in March this year.

What Sipho loves about sport is that it unites people.

“Focus more on the efforts you put in and not results, the results will eventually come.”

And if you thought the man wasn’t determined enough, he released a copy of his journey called, “How lockdown unlocked my potential.”
